Yesterday was Drammen-day. Well, I didn´t spend the entire day there, but within a few hours I was visiting the city twice. First I was on a customer visit to a lovely woman in Drammen who were interested in buying one of my paintings. Luckily for me I was served homemade applecake with vanilla ice-cream during our meeting.
After showing her my catalogue from my latest exhibition at galleri Pingvin, she couldn´t decide which one she liked the most, but she knew she had fell in love with the monks. Then I showed her the painting with the monks who recently came back from the Salvador Dali museum, and the decision was made with no hesitation at all; "Yes! I love that one!" she said. "That painting just hits me right in the heart." And I could see it; she really, truly loved it.
This is what I love most about my job. To see the reaction in someones face when my art really touches them. It gives me so much joy and pleasure. And of course it gives me motivation and inspiration to keep on creating more art.
These monks of mine are here to stay, in all different sizes, shapes and colors. Well, not all colors, because I only use my palette of three or four colors. But with the special technique I´m using there will be a great variation of colors after all. Every painting is unique, precisely because of the technique, and even if the motives are quite the same, there will never be two (or more) exact same paintings.
My second visit in Drammen was at the Drammen Museum with three of my paintings. They arrange a great art-exhibition called "November Exhibition" and all artists from the county of Buskerud may participate.
Yesterday was the day for submission, and I handed in three paintings, which has recently been in Oslo (galleri Pingvin) and in Berlin (Dali Museum). So we´ll see if the curators have the same taste as the ones in the big cities...
